M5Arcade

M5Arcade is a small arcade-style game device made with M5Stack. It was created to help children feel the joy that can exist beyond learning programming concepts in textbooks.

At the programming school where I work part-time, children learn ideas such as variables, functions, arrays, and classes. Although they understand these concepts step by step, it can be difficult for them to feel what programming enables them to make.

After encountering creative coding, writing code itself became enjoyable for me. I wanted children to experience that same sense of possibility, so I created M5Arcade as a tangible and playful programming output.

The device includes two games: a block-breaking game and a shooting game. Both are built using concepts commonly taught in class, allowing learners to connect abstract programming ideas to something they can actually play.
