ColorFlow extends EmerFlux by adding color to its white liquid pixels. It feeds differently colored liquids into one pixel to create changing colors on a black liquid surface.

Two pumps send colored liquids through a T-shaped junction into a single nozzle, which pushes the liquid into the display tank. Adjusting the pumps' flow-rate ratio changes the proportion and mixing of colors within the pixel. A third pump maintains the water level in the display tank.

In the single-pixel prototype, black and white liquids at 50% PVA concentration remained visibly separated. Red and blue liquids at 25% PVA concentration mixed, changing color continuously with the pump ratio. The results show different modes of color expression at different liquid viscosities. Extending the method to an array of pixels remains future work.

The research was presented as a poster at NICOGRAPH International 2026 and received the Best Poster Presentation Award.
